Abstract
Abnormal behaviors in the work environment can have negative effects on the behavior of individuals and organizations. Accordingly, the purpose of this research is to understand the effect of illegitimate tasks on the formation of employees' opportunism by emphasizing the moderating role of perceived organizational blockage. The current research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive-survey in terms of nature and method. The statistical population was the employees (1180) of Sepeh Bank in Yazd province, who were selected by simple random method using Cochran's 290 formula. The data collection tool was a questionnaire that had good validity (convergent and divergent) and reliability (factor loadings, Cronbach's alpha coefficient and composite reliability coefficient). The results of hypothesis testing by SMART-PLS software and using t-test statistics and path coefficients (β) showed that illegitimate tasks have a weak, direct and significant effect on employees' opportunism, ultimately perceived organizational blockage. It can play a moderating role in influencing illegitimate tasks on employees' opportunism. Based on the results, we can expect bank managers to reduce organizational blockages and create a positive and supportive work environment, because reducing organizational blockages helps reduce employee opportunism and reduces the likelihood of inappropriate behaviors in response to illegitimate tasks.
